APB Closed Beta Comes to an End

Well, its been a long run but the closed beta for Real Time Worlds MMORPG All Points Bulliten is over.

For thoes unfamiliar with the game its made by the original creator of the GTA series.
Set in the fictional city of San Paro you can create your own unique identity as ether a Criminal or Enforcer in a huge online inviroment, the custimization in this game is intenses from hairstyles, clothes, car decals and even your own tattoo’s. Driveby shootings are APB’s friend as you and 3 of your friends can hijack a car and rinse the city, loot, spraypaint, pillage and ramrade amongst just a few of the features this title brings to the table.

I had so much fun playing the beta of this very submersive title and didnt hesitate to pre-order.I’ll be sad to see my lvl 140 character dissapear but look forward to racking up the ranks for the official game now i got my gameplan for it sorted instead of wasting (insert huge $ amount here) finding the right gun for my playstyle…Shotgun JG 1040 if your wondering

I ordered this Midi keyboard a couple days ago as I enjoy making music and needed something to actualy touch when programming synths and keyboards rather then a left mouse click and using the piano roll on programs such as FL Studio, Audition, Acid Pro etc etc.

I didn’t want to spend much money as this will be my first time using a Midi Keyboard and this comes in at just shy on £100 and for what you get is well worth it. As i mentioned before, I wanted something to be able to program my own drum patterns, synth’s and samples and this does the job great. Creating drum patterns in software programs can be easily done but you need to stick to strics patterns/ tempo etc and if you do want to break tempo these a million ways todo that all take time, but with a Midi controller you dont have thoes limitations and can loop a drum pattern within seconds of hitting the record button.

Also being touch sensetive to an extent I have found you can get 3/4 different tones and attack volumes depending on how soft/ hard you hit the keys. This can be a little frustrating at times if you just want a solid bass line so thats always something to remember.

Powered by High speed USB this connects straight to your PC without needing a DC adapter which suprised me due to the size of the keyboard ( 90 x 12,7 x 29,2cm, 3,4kg ).

I will most likely edit this little insight to the Oxygen 49 when I have learned a little more about its functions but for now im having fun learning

New filing system

my new CD filing box arrived today so im gonna be up hours just organising all my games, music, movies and software but once its done i can burn all the CD spindles i have lying around the house they do my nutt in. Also indexing them using the free Open Office software, i dont see why people pay microsoft when for the regular user Open Office does exactly the same as MS Office but oh well people will spend silly money on things.

Design business underway

OK well been a while since i last posted but here it goes, Recently bee working on getting my web design company up and running, its a long drawn out process as ive already got design work todo on 3/5 websites that will be arriving on the world wide web shortly and i havnt even got my own site up and running yet, but its coming along rather quickly now, I have 500 business cards on the way and as soon as the layout for my site is complete ill be showing the world. …aswell as the clients im working for. been reading a little about CSS and is there much differents then HTML…it would seem so and i will eventlualy change to pure CSS but as it stands…ive seen nothing that i cant do just as well in HTML with maybe a few CSS elements, everyone seems to rave on about “you can change your background colour whenever you like” ok but from a designers point of view is that really nessecery when you need to follow strict briefs aboutcolour and images mcdonalds has its own patent red did you know?
also been spending my weekends doing wedding photography so when i get time im going to design a photography portfolio who knows where that might lead so yea been quite busy recently looking towards getting started for real buisness wise january time when i know where i am and what needs doin but ill update soon when i got more news

well i made a prototype of a website for a window cleaning company and hadn’t heard back for a few days and thought nothing of it, Today i got a phonecall about it, although im going to have to re-design it as its not quite what they had been looking for and will be giving me the correct information to make it right -said companys- buisness advisor was very impressed with what i came up with and is also very interested in meeting with me as she advises many other busines’s from the local area and could really use my skills. So all in all been a good day so-far and seems to be shipping up to a good week and hopefuly some work is in the pipeline

I’ve been reading up allot about vista the past couple of days and all sources seem to point me in the same direction, I was originaly looking for how to get a better performance from my laptop, its not slow but ocassionaly lags up and everyone hates that right?
The thing that i found most interesting was that after removing all the Ram grabbing eye candy vista is known for off your best bet is to upgrade from 1bg of Ram to 2, it also states that Vista is INTENDED for 2gb of Ram, so I was thinking WHY THE HELL DOSENT IT COME WITH 2gb THEN! if everywhere states it should run on 2 do places like; Currys, Dixons, pc world etc.. only give you 1gb? i ordered a 2nd stick it was only £14 but i felt bitter for the fact that for a measley 15quid vista laptops should come with the 2nd stick by default instead of them being such money grabbing arseholes. In rebellion I didnt get PC worlds own brand, i refuse to pay them for something my system should already, for a £600 laptop I feel slightly cheated.

But that said I guess thats how they get ya, again and again and again but to hell with it I got the 2nd gig arriving in a day or 2 so all is good but just coulndt help but have a little rant about it.

Ok well I have been designing websites for a hobby for about 9 years now and never really thought much about taking it any further, since the resession seemed to hit every body hard ive decided to use this to my advantage and start a little business venture. Seeing as loca buisness’s cat afford london designers stupidly high prices i thought id step in, its work i love doing so why not? Currently im in talks with 4 local buisness’s about working on websites with them and all seem very keen and mainly for the fact that im local not that im going to undercut every aponent and do a better job at the same time…confident much? not really but when it comes to website design thats where i really let rip so ive decided to let my work do the talking and ill post links when these jobs get underway

Re-install Vista

spent a whole day reinstalling Vista to my laptop and re-installing all the programmes i use, man what a ball ache that was but now i look to have another 80 gig of free space and the systems running allot faster now so isnt all bay eh? ok im taking bets on how long it will take till it decides its runing too quick and randomly starts slowing down again for no reason, only time will tell i guess.
Atleast since the SP1 update i dont have to find a crack version of vista as it seems wherever you buy a laptop with “vista installed” they never seem to want to give you the disk, why not? you pay for your laptop and pay extra to have it with vista yet no disk? cheap bastards !

Family Guy abortion episode aborted by Fox

this is a couple days old but Fox have said they are unlikley to air the new family guy episode thats main theme of the episode is abortion, Although not something to be taken lightly and garanteed i will offend some people, i cant help but think…why ban it? when murder child molestation and terrorism are among the few subjects the family guy team have tackled these are subjects deemed acceptable by the network to see? it really does baffle me. I for one am all for the episode to be aired because in the end its just entertainment if you dont like it then dont watch it but who are we to say that one form of violence is more acceptable than the other ? for every 6 people that might enjoy the episode there will always be another 6 who dont and this goes for any one of the episodes aired, it will always be 6 of one half a dozen of the other and as soon as you hear the term BAN that 6 people turns into 12 because noone can bare to miss out on seeing something like that, if this episode was aired it would be scrutanised just as much as every other episode by the people who deem this type of entertainment unfit for viewing. Its not a childrens programme so can’ the adults who it intended for choose for themselves wether or not to watch it ?

Swine Flu paranoia’demic

Ok ok so we all know that swine flu is here and it isnt going anywhere soon, but why such a panic from everyone ? “its killing healthy people” i hear you say, but when you read it in the papers people pay attention to the 2% of the worlds population that do suffer complications not the other 98% that just get a little bit sick.

I dont think people seem to realise the H1N1 virus strand has been around for years and are in a panic about it, The problem comes with if it decides to mutate then ill eat my words and shit my pants but till then just deal with it, but hey…all this Swine Flu talk in the media has made you forget about terrorism and War hasnt it so well done to the media you did your job well there.
This vaccine that everyone has been rushing out to get is nothing more then a £7.20 waste of money as each pill only makes you recover maybe a couple o days quicker and will only protect you for 1 day per tablet.

In actual fact these paranoid people paying for the vaccine could potential help mutate the virus as the more people that take it the more chance the virus will find a way to defend itself against it so if we all die then you know who to blame.

Ever thought this is all just a goverment test of the human body because i can’t remember needing to take any ID to get my TB jab or typhoid. plus…all your little swab samples and shit would work as great research on how to effectivley treat bird flu, yet another man made influenza but thats just me being paranoid right ?

At the end of the day it will be night, and chill out people because if the shit ever does hit the fan its going to take a year to come up with the effective treatment anyways so were screwed.
